Grape Vine - Swenson White
Swenson White is an attractive green table grape that develops a warm golden hue at full ripeness. The fruit is known for its pleasant sweetness and delicate floral aromatics, making it well suited for fresh eating and light juice use. Harvest is semi-late, typically around October in northern climates.
The vine has a naturally drooping growth habit and breaks bud late in spring—often one of the last grapes to leaf out—helping reduce risk from late frosts. It is vigorous, productive, and generally easy to manage in the home vineyard.
Cold hardy to about Zone 4a, Swenson White shows low susceptibility to common grape diseases, contributing to its reputation as a reliable, low-maintenance cultivar.
Developed by renowned breeder Elmer Swenson and selected in 1988, this variety is well adapted to northern growing regions and performs best with standard trellising to support its pendant growth habit.
